Vinyl has come a long way from the roll your grandparents had in the kitchen. Modern vinyl plank is printed and embossed to read as timber, it is completely waterproof, and it is forgiving on the feet — which is why it turns up in so many kitchens, laundries and rentals.
Narangba filled out through the 2000s, so most of what we see is slab-on-ground with open-plan living and three or four bedrooms. The floors going in now are the second set — the original builder-grade carpet and tile has done its twenty years and people are moving to hybrid or loose lay through the living zone with fresh carpet in the bedrooms.
